Sonic Youth @ Urban Outfitters for KXLU, 7/21/07

A night after performing Daydream Nation at The Greek, Sonic Youth stopped by Santa Monica to play a free show at Urban Outfitters. Fans lined the middle of Third Street Promenade to get a good spot and be one of the three hundred and fifty admitted into the show. This was the last stop in the Free Yr Radio nationwide concert series organized by Yaris and Urban Outfitters in an effort to support local independent radio stations. For this show, Yaris will donate a brand new car to be raffled off as part of KXLU’s fundraising campaign this year. Loyola Marymount University’s radio station will also receive part of the proceeds from a compilation CD to be sold at Urban Outfitters. The store turned out to be a surprisingly great venue, with staff working for two days to transform the main sales floor for the event. Jimmy Tamborello aka Dntel, former KXLU DJ, opened the evening.
