Giant Robot Biennale LA: 50 Issues @ JANM
The Japanese American National Museum will begin a new series of collaborative exhibitions entitled Salon Pop by presenting Giant Robot Biennale: 50 Issues, running from November 3, 2007 through January 13, 2008. GR has assembled works by ten cutting-edge artists from around the country (including noted Cranium pervert Gary Baseman). Opening reception: November 3, 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the National Museum in Little Tokyo. Music: I&I Sound System, much more.

Paper Magazine invades Los Angeles yet again. The 233 S. La Brea storefront officially opens to the public on this day, though the previous night’s events will have included Phyllis Diller paintings among other oddities. Hef Invades The Grove – Presumably In Robe, Slippers
Hugh Hefner will be appearing at the Barnes and Noble in Los Angeles at 3rd St. and Fairfax Ave. on November 15th (730pm) to sign copies of Playboy Cover to Cover: The 50s, a digital archive of every issue and page of the magazine’s first decade. Also appearing: Holly Madison, Bridget Marquardt and Kendra Wilkinson, stars of the E! reality series “The Girls Next Door.”

John Mahoney’s Erotic Landscapes

“ENCOUNTER POINT” Screening And Discussion @ SMC
Santa Monica College is proud to present the award-winning documentary film “Encounter Point,” which follows a group of Israelis and Palestinians who risk their lives to promote a nonviolent end to the longstanding conflict between the two peoples. The screening, followed by a Q&A session led by the director Ronit Avni, will be begin at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18 in SMC’s Art Complex Room 214, 1900 Pico Blvd. The event is free, as is parking.
