Ringo Starr @ House of Blues Friday (1/25): Win Tickets Now

’RingoLOSANJEALOUS:: Ringo Starr (of THE BEATLES) and Dave Stewart (of EURYTHMICS and, more recently, “A Sound Map of Tom Petty’s Los Angeles”)* will join forces this Friday afternoon at the House of Blues on the Sunset Strip, an event which will surely be marked as historic on someone or something’s LA Sound Map at some point in the not-too-distant future. Backed by a full band, the duo will perform a FREE short set celebrating the January 15th release of Ringo’s latest album Liverpool 8, co-produced by Stewart on Capitol/EMI. Showtime is at 1pm; the event will also be livecast from Ringo’s website at http://www.ringostarr.com. Though the show is free, admittance is of course limited to the capacity of the House of Blues. Fear not; there are ways inside the House. Losanjealous is giving away “guaranteed admission” entry passes, allowing unfettered access to the former Beatle’s gig. Winners can bypass the general admission line, cozy on up to the venue’s presumably shorter “Already Got My Passes” line and ensure a spot inside. (See: How To Get Inside below…)

How To Get Inside

Including our own contest, following are the various known methods for gaining admittance to Friday’s lunchtime bearded-Beatle-and-Eurythmic-inclusive show at the House of Blues:

1) Purchase the album Liverpool 8 at Amoeba Records tomorrow.

Beginning Tuesday, January 22, while supplies last, purchase Ringo Starr’s Liverpool 8 on CD or USB wristband at Amoeba Music in Hollywood to receive one ’bypass the line’ pass to guarantee your entry into the party! One non-transferable ’bypass the line’ guaranteed entry pass per Liverpool 8 CD or USB wristband purchase. Limit 2 per customer. Offer is valid while supplies last. Name on pass must match ID for entry. Pass void if transferred, altered or otherwise tampered with.

’RingoFans without ’bypass the line’ passes from Amoeba Music or free tickets are welcome to begin lining up at 9am on Friday morning outside the House Of Blues on Sunset Blvd. for a chance to be admitted to the event, space permitting. Due to capacity restrictions, there is no guarantee that fans without ’bypass the line’ passes will be admitted, but we will do our best! (Capitol/EMI)

2) Win tickets.
Can’t make it to Amoeba to purchase the album? Send us an e-mail describing in 100 words or less why you deserve a pair of guaranteed-admittance tickets to see the former Beatle jam with the dude from Eurythmics. Our favorite answer wins. As an official Losanjealous delegate you’ll stand proudly alongside various album holders and KLOS call-in winners, having bypassed the general admission line with ease. Note: Be sure to include your first and last name with your entry. [ ENTER NOW ]

3) Do nothing.
Wait in line outside the House of Blues beginning at 9am Friday. Capacity permitting, you will be filed in following all of the guaranteed pass holders. Note that of the three methods outlined on this page, option 3 offers the greatest risk of a Ringoless scenario come 1pm.

For readers selecting option 2: winners will be notified Thursday, EOD.
Event is all ages. Doors open at 11am. Performance at 1pm.
Pass Holders: Arrive no later than noon (12pm) for guaranteed admittance.
Good luck! See you there.

*27. Dave Stewart’s house in Encino. Stewart, the eccentric Eurythmics front man, worked with Petty for the psychedelic track “Don’t Come Around Here No More” (Southern Accents, 1985). Petty convinced Stewart to buy a place in Encino, and the two had wild parties where Stewart and Petty would wear their custom rhinestone cowboy outfits.
