If you have no plans next weekend (Sat 19th, specifically) you could do far worse than the considerably sturdy triple billing at pehrspace in Historic Filipinotown where Dover (Ohio), Philly and Pasadena will all represent. Keep your eyes peeled for Devendra-esque warpaint. Couple of mandoladen (mandolin + laden= mandoladen) State Bird tracks for you below (the album dropped in February). Enjoy.

Someone needs to coin a term for this tribal, Lord of the Flies-esque aesthetic creeping into band imagery. Besides the aforementioned Devendra, see also the MGMT album cover, Man Man’s live show, Black Crowes titling their LP “War Paint”, newish LA band War Paint, and so forth. Must be the times we live in.
Definitely a trend of facepainters out there at present. Add platform boots and throw the lot of them under KISS?
