In a not altogether unpuzzling turn of events, Hot Hot Heat will play a free show at everybody’s favorite Vegas-sized mall The Grove™, tomorrow evening, for the Canadian Board of Tourism. We’re told the show kicks off at 745 pm (Serena Ryder opens) with British Columbia’s own Hot Hot Heat purportedly taking stage sometime after (HHH’s official website has the show starting at 630pm, further adding to our overall confusion about the affair). Go Canada! You have been duly advised.

Don’t you just love phrases like “giving back to the community”? Mudcrutchcrunchtime: Tom Petty & friends will play the intimate Troubadour four dates in late April, two of which clash with Coachella. No faxes, and there are strict guidelines as to how many tickets you can buy. Also note that these are WILLCALL only, making scalping very difficult if not impossible. Refreshingly, though, these aren’t $200. They’re $59. General onsale begins 1pm today.

You may have to travel beyond United States borders to find a good large festival that Jack Johnson is not playing this summer, but take heart: the $87/day ticket cost at Toronto’s Virgin Festival includes both the price of the ferry and $1 towards charity. Saturday’s initial lineup includes Foo Fighters, Bloc Party, Spiritualized, Wintersleep and Constantines; Sunday’s includes Oasis, Paul Weller, Stereophonics, The Weakerthans and The Pigeon Detectives.
