Saturday was a phenomenal show!! I went to see Los Lobos this night instead
I was lucky enough to be invited to this show by a friend who had won the tickets on Losanjealous. While I am a fan of jazz I had never seen Charlie Hunter before but had heard about his mastery of the guitar. Well, mastery is an understatement. Mr Hunter’s ability to weave hard grooving bass lines as well as guitar solos simultaneously is among the most impressive musical performances I have ever witnessed. Having attended concerts in LA for 25 years, this is no idle statement. Unlike many jazz artists, Mr Hunter is able to seamlessly blend his talents with other musicians to create a compelling groove. His ability to play bass licks deep in the pocket while soloing on guitar is mesmerizing. Thanks so much to Losanjealous for providing this eye opening opportunity to expand my musical appreciation.
