Fresh from rocking the eyebrows off the crowd at Spaceland, Ida Maria concluded her two-night assault on Los Angeles at the Viper Room. Armed with just one album, last year’s Fortress Round My Heart, Ida and her band performed to a packed house. Belting out bittersweet hooks and wringing every last drop of desperate emotion from each song, Ida’s powerful voice has a raspiness, most reminiscent of Johnette Napolitano. Perfect if you want to disregard Ida’s Norwegian roots for a second and imagine that she grew up on the clubs of Sunset Strip.
