PICK OF THE WEEK: “The Solutionists” @ Spaceland

Satellite PartyLadies and Gentlemen of the Jazz Jury, before you reach your verdict ask yourself these questions. Who the hell are “The Solutionists”? And why are online tickets sold out for their Wednesday Spaceland show? And why is their name listed in quotes on the Spaceland calendar?

Consider these facts:
1) Perry Farrell’s new band, Satellite Party, claims to tell a story through a collaborative brain trust of artists, musicians and environmentalists called “The Solutionists”, who seek to redesign and come up with solutions for the world.
2) Satellite Party collaborators include Flea, New Order/Joy Division bassist Peter Hook, Thievery Corporation, Black Eyed Pea’s Fergie, and the ghost of Jim Morrison.
3) Based on these facts there should be no doubt that “The Solutionists” is in fact Satellite Party.

Your honor, the defense rests.

For chrissakes, Perry. Collaborating with Fergie? Really? How many more shitty post-Jane’s projects can you take on? You are in danger of wiping out any remaining memory of the 5 decent songs Jane’s had.

The real question is WHICH Comedians of Comedy. And why is Ghostface Killah listed separate from them.

  7. Posted by Bort 1/22/07 at 2:03 pm # Reply

The Jesus and Mary Chain are reuniting for Coachella, too.

Melt-Banana at the Troubadour Friday 5/18. On sale tomorrow at 10am. Last time I saw them there it was fun. That is, if you think SARS masks, distorted slide guitar, early-90s blastbeats and anime vocals are fun.

Can someone near the Troub get on the WiFi and let us know what the scene looks like for Shins down there? Is there any chance of rolling up right at 12:00 and getting in? Or were there already a bunch of kids down there who slept overnight on the sidewalk for this thing?
