Hall and Oates @ Troubadour Thu 5/22
Hall and Oates @ Troubadour Fri 5/23

This Just In: Ample (read: ample) tickets are still available for Hall and Oates, both dates, at the Troubadour. Could it be due to the fact that they are $200 a pop? Say it isn’t so, rich girl. You’re out of touch. Everybody’s high on consolation. I can’t go for that. No can do, maneater. I’m a family man. That said, your kiss is on my list and you make my dreams come true. If you have everything your heart desires - as well as $1,795 burning a hole in your pocket - buy eight tickets today.

grohlstacheRADIOHEAD, JACK JOHNSON INEXPLICABLY NOWHERE NEAR INITIAL LINEUP

HEADS UP
Virgin Festival Toronto Sat 9/6
Virgin Festival Toronto Sun 9/7

You may have to travel beyond United States borders to find a good large festival that Jack Johnson is not playing this summer, but take heart: the $87/day ticket cost at Toronto’s Virgin Festival includes both the price of the ferry and $1 towards charity. Saturday’s initial lineup includes Foo Fighters, Bloc Party, Spiritualized, Wintersleep and Constantines; Sunday’s includes Oasis, Paul Weller, Stereophonics, The Weakerthans and The Pigeon Detectives.

LUCHA VA VOOM - FEBRUARY 12TH, 2008 AT THE MAYAN THEATRE - “LOVE IS IN THE AIR”
By Pamela The Biggest Lucha VaVoom Fan Of All Time - Thursday February 14th 2008

MEXICAN MASKED WRESTLING, SAUCY STRIPTEASE AND KATO KAELIN! WTF?
Pam’s liver sponsored by El Jimador Tequila.

Lucha VaVoom Feb 2008!

Tuesday night was the first of three Lucha Va Voom shows at the Mayan Theatre downtown. These are the valentine-themed “Love is in the Air” performances, but I think there were more tequila fumes in the air than love. I have been to several Lucha Va Voom shows; this was not my favorite. [That’s the hangover talking. -ed] Although, a so-so Lucha Va Voom show is still 158% better than “Law and Order SVU” reruns on my couch. I definitely recommend checking out the final night Thursday.

7.26p
We arrived early and got a table, which is key if you’re buying the $30 tickets. The show started off flat with two burlesque dancers, the Queen of Hearts and the Queen of Clubs. It barely roused (or aroused) anyone in the normally raucous crowd.

Reader Picks: HOLY FUCKING SHIT: FOOS TAKE THE LEAD
By Ryan - Monday December 17th 2007

grohlstacheWe were as surprised as anyone when an online community of Muse fans legally hijacked our collective favorite concert survey and shoved a few dozen Muse dates our way, but all’s fair in concert politics. However… Musers, take heed and never underestimate the power of a good Foo Fighters gig: At press time, Foo Fighters Fonda is edging out the top Muse slot by a vote of 2515 to 2479.

If you enjoyed a concert this year and it is not currently near the top of our list, you owe it to yourself to champion your cause in whatever fashion you see fit and get out the vote, post haste. Among other things, bragging rights for the entirety of 2008 are at stake here.

In other news, Red Lobster’s LobsterFest is placing a strong third in our festival survey - just behind Coachella and Muse. Vote now, vote again following that, vote twice after you fall asleep and once before you get up for coffee.

Blood & Fishnets: L.A. Derby Doll Championship Bout @ The Doll Factory, 12/8/07
By DF - Tuesday December 11th 2007

Dolls in action

6.48pm. Los Anjealous, CA. DF strolls along the streets of Historic Filipinotown* (or, as city officials are trying to amusingly re-brand it, “Hi-Fi”) for a triumphant return to the Valley of the Dolls. On the slate is an event so momentous it would make even the Pope of Rome crap his cassock. You know what I’m talking about: it’s the Los Angeles Derby Dolls 2007 Championship Bout. Fight Crew v. Sirens. Evil Stewardesses v. Bad Policewomen. Truly, an epic evening awaits.

FOO WATCH: Grohl & Company Sporting Fake Mustaches In Valencia Right This Fucking Minute
By Ryan - Friday September 28th 2007

grohlstacheLOSANJEALOUS (Losanjealous):: Our network of informants has gleaned that Dave Grohl and the Foo Fighters, who blew up the Fonda Monday prior, are running around the Valencia Town Center with fake mustaches as part of a self-described “70s inspired soap opera” video shoot right this fucking minute. Across town at this same time in your cubicle sources report you are shunning Excel, replying succinctly albeit politically to three e-mails while being mindful to carbon-copy your boss, reading losanjealous.com, considering stretching the legs for a third (!) cup of coffee in the kitchen and beginning to think about lunch.

Grainy, topical, on-set photos after the jump. Note Spaceland-inspired drumkit backdrop. (Thanks Renee for the pointer!)
