Spell’s Angels

L.A. has little to spellebrate this year as local entry Emma Manning was eliminated in the fifth round of the Scripps National Spelling Bee on Thursday. Emma’s early exit is unsurprising for an L.A. delegate–not a single champion has hailed from Los Angeles in the Bee’s 82-year history.
